In this exhibit Loriann Signori showcases her newest paintings, along with each painting’s plein air and color harmony studies, beauties in their own right. Signori’s paintings are haunting. The poetic nature of her choice of subject and the profound sensitivity she brings to her work is outstanding. She is a painter with a soulful connection to her subject. Her approach is best described as a poetic realism.
Indeed, Signori is a painter of luminosity. Her most recent works are quite large and rich with deep, jewel-like color. She says that to achieve such luminescence she must work in thin layers of paint, allowing each layer to dry before the next is applied. In this way, the colors come to resonate with one another and produce an overall depth of hue. Like an opal, each color vibrates from its separate plane. The effect is a world of beauty, glowing from inside the painting.
