MEMORIES

It is the magic in having materials move in response to my hands and my imagination, magic in exploring the ephemeral and conceptual and manifesting it in time and space, that drew me to clay. I began my work in clay in 1995 and have since expanded my use of materials to include metal and found objects. The vessel form intrigues me. After many years of creating only functional ceramic vessels, I am now fascinated by what else a vessel may contain—light, dreams and ideas.

My window bowls are divas-elegant, formal, fussy and temperamental. They are the black tie dinner. My functional work is the pizza-and-beer comfort food made in contented rhythms. In both, I am searching for that click of recognition, understanding of the ideas and forms that lie deep within human thought and consciousness
