FACES

Using oil and acrylic, pastels and collage Shari Hookman Berger creates images of a life, mostly through portraits. Finding truth, love and understanding in the eyes of those she paints, there is a strong sense of emotion in her work. Using cardboard or shutters and found objects as her canvas, she takes something unwanted or disregarded and creates on it, something of beauty and something that evokes feeling. The use of words helps her to express the thought and compassion she finds within her subjects.

Berger is a native of Maryland. Her work is available at several locations in the Mid-Atlantic and is part of collections in Washington DC, MD, NY and CT and she has been commissioned to paint portraits for clients in DC, MD, and VA.
