Pat Silbert works in and from the natural world. Her paintings and oil pastel drawings reflect a love of nature and a belief in the interconnectedness of all life. From this spiritual perspective her work is a form of meditation. Silbert’s work can be seen as a bridge between the human world and the natural world —it works as a reminder to us of the value of the natural world.

Her new series of paintings, Sacred Space, are in acrylic on canvas with gold leaf. Small “windows” placed in in the landscapes are collaged on to the canvas and highlighted in gold leaf. These “windows” reflect Silbert’s love of ancient Buddhist art and philosophy. Uniquely, Silbert paints the 1½ inch sides of all her works.

Silbert has shown in the Washington, D.C. area for many years at Zenith Gallery, Kornblatt Gallery, Fendrick gallery, and others. She studied at George Washington University, The Corcoran Art School and holds an MFA in writing from Vermont College. Silbert worked successfully for many years as a graphic designer and is also an accomplished portrait artist specializing in “informal family portraits,” oil pastels on paper of children and parents. Her paintings and drawings are part of prominent collections, both corporate and private. She lives in the Washington, D.C. area and in Jaffrey, New Hampshire in the summer. She is a dedicated gardener and inveterate traveller.
